Offset printing is a common printing technique in which the inked image transfers from a metal plate to a rubber blanket and then is offset onto the sheet (hence the name), producing high quality, consistent results. It is best suited for medium-to-large print and combo runs where the set-up costs are spread over larger quantities.
An offset press capable of CMYK printing uses the four process color inks – cyan, magenta, yellow and black – to accurately reproduce the broad spectrum of colors and tones found in photos and other images. When projects require an exact color match for a design element, spot colors are used based on an industry matching standard known as PMS or Pantone Matching System.
